China: *sends more tear gas*

The Economist: “In a true democracy a vote in which opposition candidates took control of 17 out of 18 councils, having previously held none, would end political careers. But Carrie Lam…shows no inclination to give in to the protesters by stepping down.”

CY Leung was pushing the “our police are so restrained” myth as recently as yesterday. They never want to talk about how restrained the *protestors* have been. Because that’s the part they wilfully ignore as it destroys their (only) narrative.

EXCLUSIVE: #HongKong former Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying asked in an exlusive interview by CGTN Reporter He Weiwei “In the past six months, if similar riots took place in any American city, what would the U.S. police, national guards and the army have done?”

I’ve personally witnessed, many times, crowds of protestors running from police charges when in the west that many people would have stood up to the cops and instead of running would have battered them.

I’ve also seen situations where a small group of police had teargassed/pepper sprayed people and were outnumbered by a large group of protestors, and if it had been the UK or US those cops would have been lynched. But HK people just aren’t like that.

I’ll mention my livestream from Tai Koo where police gassed a street full of protestors who had no gear, just so they could load up their vans and drive off. They left behind 20 cops on foot knowing that same large crowd they just gassed wouldn’t attack them.
The HKPF thought the crowd was such a threat they had to gas them, but also knew it wasn’t any threat and they could leave a small and very outnumbered group of cops behind to walk out because they know HK people aren’t actually rioters. Because rioters would have ended them.

Someone’s going to “but molotovs” to dispute this. And yeah, mollies are used in great numbers now. As area denial devices 99% of the time. Fill a road with fire and cops can’t be on that road. Anywhere else in the world all those mollies would be trying to set fire to cops.

Never come across a country that’s so keen on harming the youngsters and so proud of it. Can easily tell how much their government hated the people.
