A president who 54% of America didn’t vote for nominated a man who 52% of Americans oppose, and was confirmed by Senators who represent just 44% of the US population.
Democrats lose again. And some wonder if they just aren’t ruthless enough to win against the likes of Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell.
I check in this morning with a bunch of leading lights of the Wet Rag Party. https://t.co/EHj9FyyuIO— John F. Harris (@harrispolitico) October 7, 2018
But sure, “ruthlessness” is what was missing.
Democrats will beat Trump and McConnell by electing more Democrats and taking majority control of one or both houses of Congress.
Not by magical ruthlessness.
Understand that the Kavanaugh confirmation represents the minority steamrolling the majority.
A president who won a minority of the vote nominated a man supported by a minority who was confirmed by Senators representing a minority of Americans.
The way to stop Kavanaugh was to have more votes than his supporters.
The way to stop the next Trump nominee is to have more votes than the Republicans.
